My favourite area in Iceland was the North East. A living volcanic landscape full of sulphur steam and fantastic colours. Námafjall is a mountain near Mývatn. Solfatares or furnaroles are openings in the earth's crust through which steam and sulphurous vapours rise up. The ground is a mix of crystals and salts .
